Troy Collier

Coaches Area Representative

I’m a native of Danville, IL and have been a sports enthusiast since my dad introduced me to baseball, football, track and basketball at the age of 6. After competing in three sports in high school, I continued my athletic career playing basketball at Eastern Illinois University from 1989-1994. Post college, I received two masters degrees from the University of Illinois and worked in corporate America for 3 years. My love for basketball lured me away from corporate America and into an eight-year career coaching college basketball at Eastern Illinois, Missouri State and Ball State from 1999-2007.

In 2008, I accepted a position as athletic academic counselor at the University of Illinois serving the men’s and women’s basketball programs. What happened shortly thereafter changed my life forever. As a Christ-follower, I was introduced to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in 2012 and served Illini Land FCA as a board member. Little did I know that God was using that as a stepping stone to coming on staff full time in July 2013 as a coaches area representative.

It’s such a blessing to use my gifts and talents to serve some of the most influential people in our community—coaches! My desire is to see every coach in our area fall in love with Jesus and coach in a way that honors God. I get up every day wanting to please God with my life, and I look forward to being used by Him to love and to serve coaches and athletes.

I live in Champaign with my amazing wife, Hayonna, and we’ve got three kids: Aaron, Nora & Alaina.

“However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.”Acts 20:24
